Longtime friends, the Blumberg family, have given Green Chimneys a beautiful gift: two Belgian draft horses.

Billy (right) is 18-years-old and is the larger of the two standing at about 19 hands. Corky is two years his junior and is about 17 hands. The Blumbergs, who are also neighbors of Green Chimneys, have donated the pair so they may be part of our equine education and intervention program comprised of therapeutic riding, horsemanship training, vocational training, and unmounted activities. In the program, children with special needs learn how to care for horses, donkeys and ponies, and to manage their own behavior and emotions to benefit their relationship with the animals.

Green Chimneys Founder Dr. Samuel B. Ross, Jr. welcomed Billy and Corky to the Green Chimneys family with glee and great humor, "We couldn't be more grateful to the Blumbergs for the wonderful gift of these gorgeous and big horses ... now we need to raise funds for their food!"
