Outdoor Education & Exploration
for Preschoolers

Introduce little ones to learning and discovery in the great outdoors! Green Chimneys’ Clearpool Campus offers field trips for preschool and day care programs for children 3-5 years old.

Clearpool Forest School is a customized outdoor education and exploration program offering a choice of age-appropriate hikes, nature art, environmental studies, and nature-themed music and stories. Our classroom includes acres of forest, fields and wetlands that inspire creative play, cooperation and problem solving while piquing children’s curiosity and interest in the relationship between themselves and the natural world.

Programs

Discovery Hike
Young explorers guide the experience through their continuous observations. They may ask questions on anything from animal habitats to plant adaptations, or simply want to discuss the fascinating struggles in the daily life of a beetle. Program highlights include a “sensory walk” where children use the senses to discover their environment, or a nature scavenger hunt.

Animal Encounter
Become a zoologist and interact with the small animal species in the Nature Room, including ferrets, guinea pig, doves, parakeet, ball python, leopard gecko and tree frog. Seasonal opportunities include a visit to the campus barn to meet and learn about farm animals such as sheep, goats, pigs, bunnies and chickens.

Forest Crafts
Items gathered from the natural environment are used to create an art piece that can be left behind for the creatures of the woods to enjoy. Aspiring artists will have the opportunity to share their vision and finshed project with their peers. Project ideas include leaf and nature rubbings, fairy dwellings, and nature counting books for the classroom.

Exploratory Free Play
Help children to fully experience the forest and turn it into their natural playground. Exploratory Free Play encourages communication, enhances creativity, and builds confidence. Children will further develop their motor skills while exploring the natural environment through hands on and group play.
